PALACE OF TYPOGRAPHIC MASONRY
Exhibition design developed in collaboration with Richard Niessen · 2025
This project was developed in close collaboration with Richard Niessen, Dutch graphic designer, as part of his ongoing research project Palace of Typographic Masonry. The project investigates typography as a constructed language—one that borrows from architectural logic, ornament, and systems of assembly.

For the exhibition at the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, long, striped platforms were placed irregularly throughout the galleries, and on top of these platforms a set of “tables” carried the works and materials of the project. The layout created a loose rhythm of islands and pathways rather than a single route, inviting visitors to move between stripes, stop, and read. A series of additional modular wooden structures was designed to add a playing element to the exhibition. They follow the vibrant visual language of Palace of Typographic Masonry, translating its graphic logic into a three-dimensional, adaptable exhibition landscape.
